Abstract
Curricular Integration Work represents a crucial stage in academic training, marking the completion of higher studies and the consolidation of knowledge acquired throughout the program. Within the framework of the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES) and the Academic Regime Regulation (RRA) in Ecuador, various formats are established for degree works, which include thesis, dissertation (complex exam) and scientific articles.
The LOES promotes access to high-quality higher education and defines the principies and standards that govern the Higher Education System. According to Article 144 of this law, degree works must be presented in digital format, thus guaranteeing their accessibility and public dissemination. The Academic Regime Regulations (RRA), detailed in Article 123, regulate essential aspects such as the duration of the programs, credits, and requirements for the degree, providing clear guidance for institutions and students.
In this context, students have the option to choose between different integration work formats. The thesis, as a comprehensive research work, is a traditional and comprehensive way to demonstrate research ability and contribute to knowledge in a specific field. Alternatively, students can opt for a complex exam, which is presented as a dissertation. This format offers a less extensive but equally rigorous option for knowledge integration. Furthermore, the preparation of a scientific article is another valid option, allowing students to publish their research in academic journals, thus contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in their area of study..
Each of these degree formats presents specific requirements and its own structures, from the original research to the presentation and defense of the work. Qualitative and quantitative research play a key role in the choice of format, as both methodologies offer complementary perspectives for data analysis and interpretation.
Finally, adhering to presentation regulations, such as those established by the APA Seventh Edition, guarantees quality and consistency in academic works. This introduction to integration work provides an essential framework for the development of degree projects, highlighting the available options and the regulatory context that guides their development.
